AXOLOTL
General statement:Axolotl are walking mexican fish.They are amphibians who spend their whole lives underwater.
APPEARANCE:An axolotl is grey or white in colour with black eyes.The colour of an axolotl depends on its cells.Axolotls can grow up to 30cm in length and weigh from 60 to 227 grams.The axolotl ages but it remains in larvae form for its entire life.
DIET: Axolotl eats black worms,small fish,blood worms,wax worms,earth worms and sometimes eats themselves.
habitat:Axolotls are not too demanding and in laboratories mini containers like fish bowls are used to accommodate them. They are very sensitive to the temperature. The temperature of their tank should be between 50 and 65 degree Fahrenheit. In temperature lower than that, they might show sluggish movement which is an indication of reduced metabolism. Warmer condition results in various diseases.
BEHAVIOR: Axolotls are quite gentle and they are fascinating creatures because of their mystique appearance, regeneration properties and neotenic nature.A high altitude body of water along with risky terrestrial environment is ideal for most neotenic species including axolotls.
